The Water Association Feistritztal in Styria
After a very dry, arid winter 1967/1968 total of eight municipalities have shown interest in the spring of 1968 to get together to form a community aqueduct. It is the oldest Water Association in East-Styria.
The Water Board now consists of 11 municipalities, which ensures the supply of drinking water in the communities and also provides, together with the fire brigades of the communities for the safety of citizens.
Permanent Investigations on quality of drinking water are included as well as the maintenance of collecting systems.
One major concern of the association is to sensitize the younger citizens of the communities and sensitize the collaboration with schools in the communities surrounding the school for the environmentally conscious use of water resources in Styria.
In the new building, which opened in 2014, guided tours for school classes are now being offered, and interested schools will receive a CD with the tasks of the water association which can be used in the classroom.
